Hyderabad: The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) on Sunday urged the Centre to intervene in the present imbroglio over Telangana issue.
"The issue is going out of hands as youngsters and police are frustrated due to the promises given by Telangana leaders day in and day out that Telangana would be a reality in a few days," MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said at the party headquarters. Owaisi said that over the last few days, the Telangana agitation has acquired such proportions that it might lead to violence. "Therefore, the Centre should intervene and take stock of the situation," he said. "The frequent bandh calls given by separatist groups are putting everyone to hardship, particularly the daily bread earners, and I strongly oppose such bandhs in the interest of common people," he said.
The MIM leader, however, clarified that his organisation is not opposed to the demand for separate Telangana state and demanded that its views and recommendations should be taken into consideration before the Centre takes any decision on it.
