Dirty bombs: How Lord`s Cricket ground turned into virtual battleground
The famous stadium was one of the sites for secret practice drills in defusing `dirty bombs` and other complex explosive devices.
New Delhi: The Mecca of Cricket, Lord's, was reportedly turned into a virtual battleground with at least five teams of special forces doing the drills to defuse a hidden bomb.
According to reports, the famous stadium was one of the sites for secret practice drills in defusing 'dirty bombs' and other complex explosive devices.
The exercise, codenamed Kirchhoff's Impedance, was conducted jointly by British and American Special Forces at different sites in London.
The Daily Mail reported that Lord's was used as a training ground for five teams of special forces, which had to race against the clock to reach the site using public transport and defuse a hidden bomb.
The report also added that the exercise at Lords cricket ground's Grand Stand, which took place last month, was approved after an agreement was reached between the UK Ministry of Defence, the Metropolitan police in London and the ground.
