London: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf, who is currently in self-imposed exile, has said that he will return to Pakistan to fulfil the ambitions of the country.
Musharraf, who launched his own political party, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), in October 2010, has already announced that he will return to Pakistan by March 23, 2012, and contest the next elections.
“I am a person who believes if I try and if I’m failing, I will quit,” Musharraf told The Daily Telegraph. “I have no qualms and no ego. I have governed Pakistan for nine years, very successfully and I have no further ambitions, personal ambitions, my ambition is Pakistan,” he added.
The former president is wanted by an anti-terrorist court in Pakistan over accusations that he failed to protect former prime minister Benazir Bhutto from assassination in December 2007. Last month, the court ordered the seizure of Musharraf’s properties and freezing of his bank accounts after his continued refusal to respond to the accusations.
