New Delhi: With privilege notices slapped on some Team Anna members, BJP on Sunday said it did not endorse the move, saying MPs should show largeheartedness and not get provoked by "uncharitable" comments from civil society.
"MPs must show largeheartedness and magnanimity and must not get provoked by comments including uncharitable ones by civil society members," BJP chief spokesman and General Secretary Ravishankar Prasad said here.
The BJP leader said he did not share the view of MPs of slapping privilege notice against civil society members. "The reputation of an MP is secured not by privilege motions but by the power of public opinion. They should show a large heart and vision. The testimony of public opinion is the real staple of a politician," Prasad said. Team Anna members Kiran Bedi, Prashant Bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal were slapped with breach of privilege notices for their remarks against Parliamentarians during the recent anti-corruption agitation at the Ramlila Maidan.
The privilege notice against Bedi came as she accused politicians of wearing "several masks" at the same time, drawing the ire of MPs from both Houses.
MPs had taken exception to Bhushan`s remarks to a news channel that "Bills are passed in Parliament by taking bribe."
