Islamabad: The chief of Pakistan`s powerful spy agency ISI, Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha, on Friday met Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and discussed the security situation in the county and the neighbouring war-torn Afghanistan.

The meeting was held against the backdrop of reports that the Pakistan People’s Party-led government was unlikely to grant another extension to Pasha, who is expected to retire on March 18.
Pasha reached the age of retirement in 2010 and has already been given two extensions.
A brief statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office said Gilani and Pasha had "discussed the security situation in the country".
The "Afghanistan situation also came under discussion during the meeting", it said without giving details. Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, who is set to retire next month and has been appointed Pakistan’s next envoy to India, too was present in the meeting. In a related development, Gen Khalid Shameem Wynne, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, too called on Prime Minister Gilani and discussed the regional and domestic security situation, an official statement said. Professional matters of the armed forces too were discussed, it said without giving details.
