New Delhi: The sixth edition of the ICC World Twenty20 kicked off on Tuesday with the opening match between India and New Zealand.

In total, 10 teams are participating in the main event, and 23 matches will be played in a course of 20 days.


The winning team will get away a hefty amount as prize money.


Here are the details of the money at stake:


Winners: Rs 23.5 crore ($3.5 million)


Runner Up: Rs 10 crore ($1.5 million)


2 Losing Semi-Finalists: Rs 5 crore ($750,000 each)


Bonus for winning every “super 10 round” match: Rs 33 lakhs ($50,000)


The total prize money for this year is Rs 63 crore, which is 33% more than the previous edition.
