ICC World T20: India skipper MS Dhoni will be hoping for availability of Yuvraj Singh in crunch West Indies tie
Yuvraj twisted his ankle in the game against Australia on Sunday and there is a suspense over his availability.
New Delhi: Yuvraj Singh's participation in the semi-final of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 against West Indies on Thursday hangs in a cloud and Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be hoping the veteran southpaw would be cleared to play.
Yuvraj twisted his ankle in the game against Australia on Sunday and there is a suspense over his availability. Although India have the experienced and versatile Ajinkya Rahane as a solid replacement, they have gone with the luxury of adding Manish Pandey in the squad as cover.
Yuvraj has contributed in crucial situations for India especially in the games against Pakistan and Australia and his value in the side is immense.
Yuvraj's credentials as a slow left-arm bowler is well known and he played a defining role against Australia after chipping in with the ball and bat. The wicket of Steve Smith and the valuable partnership with Virat Kohli was an important aspect in the game.
Dhoni will be hoping his side remains unchanged against West Indies and Yuvraj is fit to go ahead as the latter gives him options on the field with his immense experience.
If Yuvraj fails to make it to the starting XI, both Rahane and Pandey are able cover-up for the senior left-hander.
Both batsmen who had intense net session on Monday evening, will be eager to chip in with the goods against a starry Windies outfit.
For now Yuvi too will be hoping for a swift recovery and so will be all the fans.
