Two militants apprehended in Assam
Two Valley Plains Tribe Front (BVPTF) militants, including its chairman, were apprehended following a police operation in Assam`s Karimganj district.
Karimganj: Two hardcore Barak Valley Plains Tribe Front (BVPTF) militants, including its chairman, were apprehended following a police operation in Assam`s Karimganj district, police said on Monday.
Acting on specific information, police launched an operation in Hrangkhal basti under Ratabari police station bordering Mizoram and Tripura late last night. The duo have been identified as Front`s chairman Krishna Mohan Tripura and cadre Sameer Tripura. The militants were allegedly involved in the kidnapping of bank employee Manorajan Das Banik who was subsequently released, sources added.
