Over 25 || Score 130/2 (Virat Kohli 58; MS Dhoni 49*)

If this partnership goes on for some more overs, New Zealand will be out of the game. They need to break this partnership to get back in the match. After this, there is no experienced player in the Indian batting line-up, they can exploit it.

India need 156 runs in 25 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

Over 20 || Score 103/2 (Virat Kohli 50; MS Dhoni 32*)

This is some fine batting from both the players and partnership is worth 62 runs. Kohli completed his fifty in the process, what a fine innings and what player he has become in the course of time. Dhoni also reached a milestone of completing 9000 runs in ODIs and the 3rd wicket-keeper batsman to do so.

Over 14 || Score 62/2 (Virat Kohli 28; MS Dhoni 13*)

New Zealand Innings

In the end, Kiwis post a more than a challenging total for India of 285 runs. Guptil with Latham started the proceeding for visitors and thrashed hosts to all parts of the ground. Martin looked to be in some serious form as he hit Hardik for 97 metre six. Umesh Yadav provided the first break thorugh for India, when he trapped Guptil in front of the stumps. Then came the spinners and did what they are known for, itwas Kedar Jadhav who dismissed the best batsman of the Kiwi side, Kane Williamson. Then Mishra snaffled Taylor and Ronchi to a beatiful leg-spinning delivery. At one stage, New Zealand were rattling at 199 for 8 in 37.5 overs and looked like they will not be able to even play their quota of overs, but the 9th wicket patnership between Neesham-Henry changed the course of the game in Kiwi's favour. They scored 84 runs in 67 balls and set the target of 286 runs for India when they come out to bat,

OVER 49.4 | SCORE 285 (Henry 38*)

Neesham scored his maiden half-century, and helped New Zealand to post a respectable total on the board, with Matt Henry who also scored 38 runs and thrashed Umesh Yadav in the 49th over for 2 boundaries and a six.

Trent Boult is the last man to be dismissed by Bumrah. Slower ball on off-stump, Boult eyes lit up and tries to send it out of the park and misses. Timber for Jasprit.

OVER 45 | SCORE 243/8 (Neesham 39*, Henry 16*)

These are very useful runs from New Zealand's point of view. This partnership is already worth more than 50 runs.

Neesham is playing the best ODI knock of his career, with 5 more overs to go you can expect some firecrackers from him in the end. Henry is playing his part of the supporter very well, rotating strike and giving it back to the left-hander.

OVER 40 | SCORE 211/8 (Neesham 20*, Henry 7*)

8 wickets down for New Zealand, Southee dismissed on 13 runs, couldn't replicate the heroics of 1st ODI. India in complete command of the match. 10 overs still to go and Kiwis cannot cash on the slog overs as they have only 2 wickets left in the bank.

The only hope for Black Caps is the left hander Neesham, if he stays there for 50 overs with the lower-order, he can put runs on the board for visitors.

OVER 35 | SCORE 190/7 (Neesham 7*, Southee 10*)

OVER 31 | SCORE 166/5 (Latham 59*, Neesham 2*)

Amit Mishra provided the breakthrough that India were looking for, Ross Taylor stumped by MS Dhoni, out for 44 runs. Beautiful delivery, pitched on middle-leg stump, extracts sharp turn and beats the outside edge of Taylor. Dhoni does the rest behind the stumps.

Now, Anderson departs to a full toss from Kedar Jadhav. He is turning out to be a useful bowler from India's perspective. Picked up his second wicket of the match.

Mishra gets another one, Ronchi stumped to a beautiful leg-spinner and Indian skipper Dhoni is to good behind the stumps to let a chance go like that.

New Zealand are in enormous pressue now. Half of side back in the pavilion, Latham is the key for them, if they want to bat 50 overs.

Martin Guptil hits the first six of the match! A whooping hit to Hardik Pandya which almost crossed the entire stadium. Kiwis off to a flying start with bowlers not getting much help from the pitch.

OVER 3 | SCORE 11/0 (Guptil 7*, Latham 3*)

Not much help from the green surface to begin with as seamers Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav begin India's proceedings with the ball. Latham-Guptil dealing in 1s and 2s in this early phase of the match.

# National anthems done. Martin Guptil, Tom Latham on field for the Kiwis.

NZ XI: Latham, Guptill, Williamson (c), Taylor, Anderson, Ronchi (wk), Neesham, Santner, Southee, Boult, Henry

IND XI: Rohit, Rahane, Kohli, Pandey, Dhoni (c, wk), Jadhav, Axar, Pandya, Mishra, Bumrah, Umesh.

India win the toss and opt to bowl first against New Zealand at Mohali.

A complete batting collapse at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi during the 2nd ODI saw India incur first defeat to New Zealand of the complete series (including Tests).

With the Mohali stadium pitch expected to suit batsmen more, a 300-run plus total can be expected.

MS Dhoni and Co. were earlier expected to wrap-up the series with Mohali expected to be the decider in this 5-match series but Kane Williamson's ton in 2nd ODI inflicted a much needed spice in the one-day series which currently stands level 1-1.

The form of Hardik Pandya has been a bright spot in an otherwise in consistent Indian line-up and skipper Dhoni has many issues to resolve including his batting order in the squad.

For Kane Williamson, the form of Ross Taylor has been the biggest of worries. The Kiwis are expect more contribution from the likes of Luke Ronchi and Corey Anderson in the middle-order after Tom Latham rose to the occasion in a sound partnership with skipper Williamson in 2nd ODI.

Sadly for India, Suresh Raina isn't part of the travelling contingent for the 3rd ODI too and the boys in the middle order - Manish Pandey, Axar Patel – would like to make this final opportunity count before the squad for the final two matches is announced.

Whoever wins the match will take the lead in the five-match series and that will be enough motivation for both the teams.
