Indian group behind Kathmandu killing?
The general secretary of Islamic Association Nepal, Faizan Ahmed, 41, was shot dead by two assailants on September 26 last year.
Kathmandu: Nepalese police have claimed that the Indian mafia group that targeted a controversial cable TV tycoon here in 2010 was also behind last year`s killing of a Muslim leader in the capital.
The general secretary of Islamic Association Nepal, Faizan Ahmed, 41, was shot dead here by two assailants on September 26 last year. After months of following leads, Nepalese police have claimed that Ahmed`s murder was carried out by the same group involved in the 2010 targeting of media entrepreneurs - Jamim Shah and Yunus Ansari.
According to the Central Investigation Bureau, which led the investigation, the murder of Faizan was masterminded in Kathmandu by Aditya Pal, 30, who belonged to Lucknow.
Pal had been living in the capital for a few months. Police also identified Fahed Alam, of Azamgarh of Uttar Pradesh, as one of the two assailants who shot at Faizan at Kamaladi area near the Jama Mosque in Kathmandu.
The same group was involved in the murder of Jamim Shah, the owner of private television channel two years ago and attacking Yunus Ansari, another television entrepreneur who is serving jail sentence for his involvement in fake Indian currency racket.
