Mishra, who has picked three wickets from two matches in the series so far, was on Tuesday accused of allegedly assaulting a woman, who is said to be his friend, in a Bengaluru hotel.

The woman has alleged that Mishra attacked her in a five-star hotel in Bengaluru on September 25 while he was in the city to attend a cricket camp.

A charge had been filed against the 32-year-old, who has been sent a notice asking to appear before an investigation officer.

"We have shot off a notice, summoning India cricketer Amit Mishra for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in the city last month," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, Sandeep Patil told PTI.

Mishra has also been named in the 16-member squad for the upcoming four-match Test series against South Africa.

India are currently trailing 1-2 in the ODI series. The fourth ODI is scheduled to be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.
