New Delhi: As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected two new teams for Indian Premier League (IPL), Pune and Rajkot, to replace suspended franchises – Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals – on Tuesday for next two years, the buzz about the cash-rich league has started all over again.

Apart from disclosing the names of the two new teams after the bidding process, IPL also announced some crucial dates to remember, which are of great important for all the lovers of the T20 league.

Here they are:


December 15, 2016: Two new franchises – Pune, Rajkot – via draft will choose the players for their respective sides. Pune has the advantage of bidding for the first player since their bid (10 cr) was lower than Rajkot's (16 cr).


February 6, 2016: The IPL auction to take place in Bengaluru, where all the other teams will participate.


January 13, 14, 2016: Franchise workshop will be held in Srinagar.


April 9 to May 29, 2016: Ninth edition of the popular cricket league will be played.
