Indian Premier League: Will franchises spend mega money on Yuvraj Singh at February 6 auctions?
Yuvraj has a base price of Rs 2,00,00,000 this year.
New Delhi: Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh will be up at the auctions pool for Indian Premier League season 9 taking place on Saturday.
The swashbuckling batsman who was bought at last year's auction by Delhi Daredevils for a record price of Rs 16 crore, was released by the team ahead of the upcoming season.
Yuvraj has a base price of Rs 2,00,00,000 this year and it will be interesting to see whether the franchises opt to go the distance for the veteran southpaw. Yuvraj had a disappointing campaign for Delhi last year although he had a good time for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014.
The price tag is expected to be high this year too after the Punjab batsman made a comeback in the Indian Twenty20 side for the series against Australia which the visitors won 3-0.
Yuvraj didn't get a chance to bat in the first two T20I games but made his name count in the third outing hitting a four and a six off the last over when India needed 17 runs to win the tie.
Those two deliveries could prove vital for the player in the February 6 auction. Although the player did take two wickets to dismiss Glenn Maxwell in the second and third T20I to show his prowess with the ball too.
India is counting on Yuvi's experience and has backed him for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. With the upcoming Asia Cup and World T20, Yuvi will look to have his presence felt in the side.
The franchises will keep this in their mind given the upcoming three series India will play and Yuvraj most likely being a part of it.
His price was really high at the last two IPL auctions. He was bought for a record Rs 14 crore and Rs 16 crore by the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Daredevils respectively.
Will this season too see Yuvraj going home with a fat pay? We will find out on Saturday.
