India`s next coach: Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman to interview shortlisted 21 candidates today
A number of high-profile names including Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Sandeep Patil have applied for the top job.
Kolkata: The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) set up by Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) will be in action today as it will interview the 21 candidates shortlisted by the Indian board for the post of head coach of the Indian cricket team.
The names of 21 candidates have been forward to CAC comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
The committee, which will be assisted by former secretary and national selector Sanjay Jagdale as its co-ordinator, will submit the report within 22nd June to BCCI president Anurag Thakur through secretary Ajay Shirke.
The BCCI issued a media release that also stated that Sachin Tendulkar, currently holidaying in England, will be available via video-conference.
"The cricket advisory committee which consists of three eminent cricketers, namely Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, Mr.Sourav Ganguly and Mr. VVS Laxman in association with Mr Sanjay Jagdale, who will act as Chief Co-ordinator of this committee for the purpose of the selection of the Head Coach will be handed over the 21 eligible applications," the release stated.
A number of high-profile names including Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Sandeep Patil have applied for the top job.
Shastri was the front-runner was the job, considering his 18-month stint with the Indian cricket team as the director before Anil Kumble threw his hat into the ring.
Applicants that cannot attend the interview in Kolkata can do so via video-conferencing.
