Hyderabad: Condemning Prime Minister Manmohan Singh`s comments favouring consensus on the Telangana issue, TRS on Sunday said the centre has failed to see the democratic aspirations of the people here.
"We fully condemn the Prime Minister`s comments. This is totally unfair. They refuse to see the truth and democratic aspirations of the people," Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA and its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao`s son KT Rama Rao said. Accusing the Congress of complicating the Telangana issue, he said the bill for formation of separate Telangana can be passed in the Parliament as the main opposition BJP has already pledged its support to the demand.
"It is the Congress which has to make up its mind. Since BJP is ready to support, the Telangana bill can be passed without any difficulty. It is the Congress which is unnecessarily complicating the matter," Rama Rao said. Claiming that consensus has already been arrived at on the Telangana issue with about 30 parties giving letters of support during UPA-I, Rama Rao maintained consensus does not mean unanimity.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday had said a decision on the Telangana issue would be taken after evolving a consensus so that it did not create trouble in other regions.
Congress would definitely face the wrath of the Telangana people for not accepting their just demand, Rama Rao said.
