Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to disburse interest free educational loans to girls for technical and vocational courses in two installments instead of the five at present, a state minister said on Thursday.
Presiding over the meeting of Board of Directors of Women Development Corporation, the nodal agency for advancing loans, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary said that the Corporation is giving Rs 75,000 loan to girls for technical and vocational education it is being given in five instalments of Rs 15,000 each.
The loan would now be disbursed in two equal installments of Rs 37,500 each for the convenience of girl students, she said. The Corporation had earned a profit of Rs 15.83 lakh during the previous fiscal and disbursed loans worth Rs 467.59 lakh to 673 women under Swarojgar Yojana, besides disbursing interest subsidy of Rs 9.27 lakh. Loans worth Rs 480 lakh would be provided to 800 women under the Yojana during the current fiscal, she said.
