Patna: Former Director General of Police (DGP) Neelmani on Thursday took charge as the member of the Bihar State Human Rights Commission (BSHRC). Speaking on the occasion, Neelmani said that he will extend all cooperation to the BSHRC Chairman and personally strive hard to play a constructive and positive role in strengthening the BSHRC in its efforts towards protection of human rights of the people in the state.
Neelmani, who retired as the DGP three months ago, said that he will work to bring in improvement in the mechanism so that more and more people could knock the doors of the SHRC to lodge complaint about human rights violation.
The newly-appointed BSHRC member said that various government departments, like police, heath and labour, will be asked to set in motion reforms and provide training to their employees so that they respect the human rights of the people. Neelmani said that the institutions like the administrative training centres, police training institutes, NGOs and universities will be asked to assist in training programme for the government employees to spread awareness among about respecting human rights of the people.
A campaign will also be launched among the people to make them conscious about their human rights and forums where they can complaint about violation of their human rights for justice, he said.
