New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils (DD) on Friday survived a scare at the Swami Vivekanand airport in Raipur where their flight was supposed to land.

According to reports, the plane in which the members of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise and other passengers were travelling had a narrow escape from colliding with another plane at the runway.


The Indigo flight ferrying the Delhi team was scheduled to land at Raipur but a Kolkata-bound plane was already stationed to take-off from the runway. But thanks to the skills of the pilot, a major tragedy was averted.


The Delhi team are in Raipur for their scheduled 12th match of the 2015 IPL season against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The match will be played on Saturday at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium.


Daredevils lost to Kolkata at Eden Gardens by 13 runs yesterday. Jean-Paul Duminy-led side is currently placed seventh in the points table with four wins out of 11 games and are virtually out of the play-off reckoning.


Reports also cited that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was notified of the fiasco but the civil aviation regulatory body is yet to release a statement about the incident.
