Sandeep to bowl the final over, Lions need 30 off 6. Faulkner hit the first ball straight down the ground towards long-on and refused to take the single, much to the dismay of Dhawal Kulkarni. Sandeep followed it with a low full-toss and Faulkner hit it straight to the fielder at long-on. Kaushik is the new man in. Dhawal Kulkarni worked the third ball towards long-off and refused the single. Dhawal was offered width off the fourth ball and he cheekily played it past the keeper for a couple of runs. Dhawal cut the fifth ball past point for another couple of runs. Dhawal drove the last ball towards wide of long-off for another couple of runs. That's it, KXIP win the match by 23 runs.

Praveen made room for himself off the third ball, got a top edge which beat a diving fielder at short third man for a much-needed boundary. Praveen once again charged down the wicket off the next ball, Mohit banged it short, Praveen mistimed it towards mid-on for a couple of runs. Another short ball by Mohit, Praveen failed to connect it with the bat. Praveen made room for himself off the final ball and tried clearing short third man, but the ball went straight into the hands of Cariappa. Faulkner scored a single off the next ball. Stoinis bowled a wide full-toss to Praveen, who cheekily worked it past third man for a boundary. Praveen flicked the next ball towards deep fine leg for a single. There was a huge appeal, the umpire's finger went up. Even though Jadeja looked unhappy, replays suggested Jadeja had feathered that into the hands of the wicketkeeper. Massive achievement for KXIP considering their campaign so far this season. Faulkner is the next man in. Can he play another blinder today? Four from the over and another wicket for Axar. Mohit Sharma is the next man in. Bravo bowled another full-toss to Saha, who flicked it past fine leg for another boundary. Saha flicked the fourth ball towards short midwicket for a couple of runs. Bravo followed it one of his trademark yorkers and Saha has no answet to that one as his stumps are disturbed! There was more width on offer off the fourth ball, Murali went after it and it went past a diving Ravindra Jadeja at point for a couple of runs. Murali once again punched the fifth ball, through covers for three runs. PK ended the over with a dot ball. Good start for KXIP.

After a forgettable season, Kings XI Punjab will look to make a new start to the season under the captaincy of new skipper Murali Vijay.


Under David Miller, Punjab have lost five out of the six matches they played so far, where the South African left-hander's contribution has been of just 76 runs.


Punjab have talented players at their disposal and it's just that they need to click as a unit to be back on track.


The Lions on the other hand have been in sublime form and are the table-toppers having won six out of the seven matches.


They haven't put a foot wrong and with several match-winners at their disposal, they are the top contenders to win the title.
