Dhoni, who had been associated with the now suspended franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for eight long years, said that he was excited to join the new franchise which was a balanced side.

Talking about the recently concluded IPL auction, the Ranchi cricketer said that his franchise was looking for players who could provide stability.

Dhoni was the first player picked by the Sanjeev Goenka-owned franchise at the players draft last year, along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith and Faf du Plessis.

Apart from the Pune franchise, the other new team in IPL 2016 is Gujarat Lions (GL). The two franchises have replaced CSK and Rajasthan Royals, who will now stage a comeback in the tournament in 2018.
