The selection committee had met in Delhi to pick India's squad for the Australia tour, on Saturday.

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur stated on Saturday after the meeting that MS Dhoni will be the captain of the Indian team till the T20 World Cup to be held at home.

India have won the ICC T20 World Cup previously under Dhoni in 2007 and also the 50-over WC in 2011.

The 15-member squads were selected on Saturday for the tour of Australia.

Dhoni has been playing for Jharkand in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. He had faced scrutiny after India lost the T20s and ODIs against South Africa recently. Interestingly India had also lost against Bangladesh earlier this season.

Dhoni will hope to lead the team well in Australia as the important T20 WC looms ahead.
