MUST WATCH: Desert Storm! Sachin Tendulkar remembers one of his greatest knocks on its 18th anniversary

Tendulkar scored 143 runs to help India beat Australia by 26 runs after the target was revised to 276 in 46 overs.

New Delhi: Batting great Sachin Tendulkar on Friday shared a nostalgic moment from his life, reminding us of his great innings against Australia 18 years ago, which came to be known as Desert Storm.

On April 22, 1998, exactly 18 years ago, the Little Master played one of his greatest knocks to help India beat Australia by 26 runs after the target was revised under Duckworth–Lewis method at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah.

Tendulkar tweeted: 

The match, rather, Tendulkar's 131-ball 143-run knock has since been known as Desert Storm.

Batting first, Australia -- already in the final -- made a huge big total of 284/7 with Michael Bevan making an unbeaten 101.

India needed to score at least 254 to qualify for the final, ahead of New Zealand. But, things got heated up with sandstorm disrupting the match for about 25 minutes.

Then, India's target was revised to 276 in 46 overs after the break. Tendulkar, who hadn't even removed his helmet during the stoppage in that sweltering condition, went onto score 143 runs to give India not only the right play the final, but also post one of the greatest wins.

India went on to win the Coca-Cola Cup, beating the Aussies in the final by six wickets with Tendulkar again scoring another century, 134 off 131 balls.
