As he replaced late Jagmohan Dalmiya for BCCI's top post on Sunday, he sent the cricketing fraternity in a state of shock when he revealed that he doesn't carry a phone and doesn't know how to operate a computer. While these are shocking revelations made by Manohar, one should not forget that most of the scams which rocked the world's cricket board started during his tenure.

It was during Manohar's tenure (2008-11) as the BCCI President that the likes of Lalit Modi and N Srinivasan became powerful men, who were later involved into several controversies.

And even though Manohar claimed his unfamiliarity with the computer, Times of India reported earlier that the disgraced former IPL chairman Modi and Manohar “were in touch” and might have exchanged emails on the 2013 IPL scandal.

The much talked about amendment to the BCCI constitution’s clause in 2008 that authorised Srinivasan’s India Cements to own the Chennai Super Kings, took place during his tenure. It is beyond ones understanding how such thing could take place without him being aware.

While he recently slammed Srini for dampening the image of the BCCI in the last few years and also for the conflict of interest issue, it was something which all started during his tenure itself. Being a top lawyer, he would have known the laws and the ramifications and had he intervened then, the plethora of controverises could have been avoided.

All we can hope for the time being is that the officials have taken a lesson from the recent happenings and it's the start of a new era, where Manohar and other top officials will restore fans faith in the BCCI.
