Twist in tale! Lalit Modi to install son Ruchir as Rajasthan Cricket Association boss
Modi also intends to launch the RCA T20 league with retired cricket superstars.
New Delhi: Former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi is set to make his next move in his comeback to Indian cricket.
According to a report in The Indian Express, the business tycoon intends to appoint his son Ruchir as president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) in the coming months.
The RCA elected Modi president in 2014 despite serving a life ban. Following this, the BCCI suspended the state association.
Following to the recent Supreme Court order, the Indian board will now have to implement Lodha panel's recommendations, which also includes one vote for one state.
This has served Modi the perfect chance to bring RCA back into the BCCI fold.
The report further claimed that Ruchir even met the RCA members a few days back in Jaipur.
"Talks are on and we all are hoping that Lalit’s son will come on board soon in the coming months. It’s already under process now. If Ruchir is elected as president then it will be of great benefit for RCA as in two years’ our IPL franchise will be back from suspension, and our domestic players also won’t have to suffer anymore," a RCA insider told the newspaper
With Ruchir taking over, Modi will not only be able to control the association but also win back RCA's voting rights in BCCI.
Modi also intends to launch the RCA T20 league with retired cricket superstars.
