New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, a key member of Team Anna, on Monday rejected claims that he had abruptly left the Anna-Ramdev fast venue on Sunday after the yoga guru virtually snubbed him.
Clarifying his position, Kejriwal said he was unwell and that’s why he had to leave the fast venue. Kejriwal added he has the "greatest respect" for the yoga guru.
"I had to leave fast venue bcoz I am v(ery) unwell. I told this to Anna and swamiji. It is wrong to say that I left in protest (sic)," Kejriwal wrote on Twitter. "I have greatest respect for swamiji," he tweeted.
Kejriwal further said he would convince Ramdev why it was important to take names and demand action against the corrupt persons.
"This is a political battle and we will have to name and shame and demand severe action against corrupt people," he said in his tweet.
"I will personally speak to Swami Ramdev ji. I am sure I will be able to persuade him that naming is important," he added.
Kejriwal said, "There was no protocol that said we cannot take names. When I took the names during the speech, I got a chit saying I cannot take names. I was not told that names could not be taken." Ramdev had yesterday snubbed Kejriwal for targeting individual MPs.
After Kejriwal attacked some Members of Parliament in his speech, Ramdev said the fight against corruption was not against individuals.
"Today, we thought that we will not take anybody`s name. But Arvind took the names.
"Arvind Kejriwal should not have taken names. It could create controversy. Please don`t see it as a personal attack. This fight is not against any individual," Ramdev said.
