UNBELIEVABLE! Sharne Warne claims Munaf Patel lied about his age for IPL contract
The World Cup winning bowler played under Warne at Rajasthan Royals.
New Delhi: In a shocking live television moment, former Australian captain Shane Warne revealed how Indian pacer Munaf Patel fudged his age to bag an Indian Premier League contract.
According to a report on Cricket County, Warne made these comments from inside the commentary box during Sri Lanka's ODI match against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
The legendary leg-spinner said when he asked Munaf his age, the pacer inquired if he wanted to his real age or IPL age.
Munaf later confessed that his real age was 35, while IPL age was 29.
The World Cup winning bowler played under Warne at Rajasthan Royals.
Age-fudging is a serious problem for Indian administrators at lower levels.
There are several cases in India's domestic circuit of players faking their age.
If Warne's account is true, then the fact it happens at the highest level is quite shocking.
