Uruguay’s Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani proved to be too good for Russia, as they surpassed the hosts 3-0, to win their third consecutive group stage match. Russia need to put the defeat behind them and move on as they face tougher opponents in the knockout stages. Uruguay top Group A with nine points and look forward to Group B’s third round matches as they are likely to face either Portugal, Spain or Iran, who have an opportunity to stage an upset, in the round of 16.
