New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to Naxal ideologue Narayan Sanyal, who is serving life-term on charges of sedition and colluding with Maoists to establish a network to fight the State. Sen, Sanyal and Kolkata-based businessman Piyush Guha had been sentenced to life imprisonment on December 24, 2010 for sedition. His bail plea was earlier rejected by the Chhattisgarh High Court.
PUCL leader Binayak Sen, who was earlier granted bail by the apex court, was accused of acting as a courier for Sanyal, who was in jail, by carrying his messages and letters to the underground Maoists. More details are awaited.
