New Delhi: Vikas Yadav, serving life term along with cousin Vishal in Nitish Katara murder case, today withdrew his bail application from the Delhi High Court after judges expressed unwillingness to entertain his plea.

"The bail application is dismissed as withdrawn," a bench headed by Justice S Ravinder Bhat said.
"At this stage, we are not inclined to entertain your bail application," the bench, also comprising Justice Pratibha Rani, said.

Senior advocate Sushil Kumar, appearing for Vikas, did not press for the decision on the bail application after the bench made its intentions clear.

Earlier, Kumar sought bail for the convict saying "I (Vikas) have never been given bail by the trial court even though I tried for it on many occasions." "For last ten years, he is inside and as a result, he was never present in any family celebration," the defence lawyer said.

The accused has also sought interim bail for a week`s period ahead of festival season. However, the court also refused to entertain the plea.

Vikas and Vishal had kidnapped Nitish Katara, an MBA graduate and son of an IAS officer, on the intervening night of Feb 16-17, 2002, from a marriage party at Ghaziabad and later killed him.

Vikas was opposed to his sister Bharti`s intimacy with Nitish.

In June 2008, Vikas and Vishal Yadav were convicted by the trial court for the killing and sentenced to life imprisonment.
