Madrid: Atletico Madrid on Wednesday unveiled their latest big summer "signing" -- the Hollywood star Matt Damon.

The actor, in the Spanish capital to promote his new film "Jason Bourne", was presented with a shirt of the Champions League finalists by club president Enrique Cerezo, a respected film producer, complete with Damon`s name on the back.


Damon, 45, said Atletico "remind me of my favourite team, the Boston Red Sox", the baseball team whose colours are also red and white.


"It`s our summer signing, joining next week, fresh from the US," joked Cerezo, who has similarly "signed" in the past movie stars Harrison Ford, Halle Berry and Samuel L. Jackson.
