Mohun Bagan drub Bengal Police 4-0 in CFL
Champions Mohun Bagan displayed their class again as they demolished West Bengal Police 4-0 at Sahara Calcutta Football League for the premier division at their home ground here on Tuesday.

their class again as they demolished West Bengal Police 4-0 at
Sahara Calcutta Football League for the premier division at
their home ground here on Tuesday.
Captain Edeh Chidi, who struck twice in the previous 3-0
win against strong contender Mohammedan Sporting, scored in
the 21st minute following a pass from Subair Muritala Ali,
who also scored from a penalty kick towards the end of the
first session (44th minute).
The penalty was awarded to Mohun Bagan when Muritala Ali
was dragged down by Police defender Dipankar Bhattacharjee
inside the box.
Muritala`s goal was his 14th in CFL, the highest in the
tournament, ahead of Chidi (12 goals).
Bagan increased their lead in the second session from a
right footer from Souvik Chakraborty in the 69th minute, his
second goal of the tournament. He was later adjudged man of
the match.
The fourth goal came from substitute left winger
Snehasish Chakroborty, who utilised a pass from Dhanrajan in
the 82nd minute.
The win put the green-and-maroon brigade on 31 points
from 12 games, two points behind leaders East Bengal who have
played one game less.
Behind Mohun Bagan are Aryan Club, who have 28 points
from 12 encounters after Sunday`s 1-0 win over Mohammedan
Sporting, who have 19 points from 10 games.
Winners of Durand Cup, Chirag United are placed sixth
with 17 points from nine games.
