Punjab assembly bans mobile phones in edu centres
The resolution was moved yesterday by legislator Raheela Khadim of the PML-N, which rules the province.

might no longer be allowed to use mobile phones, with the
state legislature banning their use in educational
institutions.
The assembly of Pakistan`s Punjab province unanimously passed a resolution recommending a ban on the use of cell phones within educational centres of the province which has a population of over 90 million.
The resolution was moved yesterday by legislator Raheela Khadim of the PML-N, which rules the province. She said it had been observed that students in schools and colleges did not take interest in lectures and remained busy talking or sending SMSes on their mobile phones.
Besides distracting the students from their studies, the cell phones were a "threat to their morality", she claimed.
She recommended a total ban on the use of mobile phones in all educational institutions of Punjab. The House unanimously adopted the resolution.
