London: Britain`s High Court says a businessman accused of hiring a hit man to kill his wife during their Cape Town honeymoon is too mentally fragile to be extradited to South Africa.
Two justices have temporarily halted the extradition of Shrien Dewani, who is accused of arranging the murder of his 28-year-old wife, Anni. She was found shot dead in an abandoned taxi in Cape Town`s deprived Gugulethu township in November 2010. Shrien Dewani`s lawyers say he has severe post-traumatic stress and is too sick to stand trial.
Home Secretary Theresa May approved Dewani`s extradition in September after a district judge ruled he should be sent to South Africa to stand trial. Dewani appealed the ruling to the High Court, which suspended the extradition on Friday.
