Subrata Bhattacharya takes up coaching job for East Bengal
After playing for Mohun Bagan for 17 years and then guiding maroon and blue to the national league title twice as a coach, former India Captain Subrata Bhattacharya will coach his one time arch-rivals East Bengal football team this season.
Reacting to members' response, Subrata said "I am overwhelmed by the response from the East Bengal members and supporters. I want to carry forward the trophy winning tradition of East Bengal Club. I hope I would be able to live up to the expectation of the members and fans of the club".
Regarding his shifting of allegiance to the new club, the former Bagan skipper said, "I know that people are talking about my taking up this job. Let them be happy with their opinions. But I have done nothing wrong. I know I am not a traitor".
Subrata took the charge of East Bengal from Brazilian Coach Caros Roberto Perreira.
