New Delhi: On a day of intense football action, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City finally managed to beat Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League meeting on Wednesday morning.

Last season`s runners-up Atletico Madrid were one of four teams to clinch a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with two group matches to spare.

Atletico beat Russian side Rostov 2-1 in Spain with Antoine Griezmann scoring both goals as they sealed their progress from Group D along with five-time European champions Bayern Munich, who were 2-1 winners at PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain both clinched qualification from the knockout stage from Group A.

Arsenal came from two goals down to win 3-2 away to Ludogorets in Bulgaria to go through along with PSG, who were 2-1 winners over Basel.

But it was City's 3-1 win over Barcelona which dominated the gameweek 4 of world's greatest club tournament. The English giants comeback from one-goal down to beat Guardiola's former club 3-1 at Etihad Stadium.


It ended Barcelona`s run of five successive wins over City and moved Guardiola`s side to within two points of Luis Enrique`s Group C leaders with two games remaining.

Fellow Premier League club Arsenal found Mesut Ozil sscoring a superb late winner as Gunners hit back from two goals down to beat resilient Ludogorets 3-2 and secure their place in the last 16 with two games to spare.

Thomas Meunier volleyed a spectacular last-minute goal to give Paris St Germain a 2-1 win at FC Basel, and giving yet another knock-out place.

German giants Bayern Munich rode on a Robert Lewandowski doble to make sure of progress to the knockout phase as they came from a goal down to beat PSV Eindhoven 2-1 away.

Griezmann struck two goals, one in the 93rd minute, to give Madrid a 2-1 Group D win over Rostov that took them into the last 16 and preserved their 100 percent record.
