New Delhi: Delhi Transport Corporation has initiated disciplinary action against 764 drivers and conductors after finding them "guilty" of dereliction of duty.
The Corporation had launched a special drive this week to improve its bus operations during which 476 drivers and 288 conductors were found violating laid down norms, a senior DTC official said.
The Corporation has deployed hundreds of officers and traffic supervisory staff to supervise the bus operations. The main objective of the drive was to sensitise the bus crew towards their duties, basic etiquettes while dealing with passengers and to have a vigilant approach to ensure overall safety.
During the drive, 30 drivers were found guilty of rash driving while 189 cases of improper parking and 58 cases of not stopping the bus at designated bus stops were reported. Sixteen cases of drivers using mobile phone while driving were also reported while 10 drivers and conductors were found smoking on duty.
