Aditi Ashok tied 4th at Ladies European final qualifier first round
The 17-year-old Aditi, who won St. Rule Trophy and Ladies British Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship this year, had five birdies against a lone bogey.
Marrakech, Morocco: Aditi Ashok got off to a flying start at the Ladies European Tour's Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifier with a splendid four-under 68 to be tied fourth on day one of the event.
The 17-year-old Aditi, who won St. Rule Trophy and Ladies British Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship this year, had five birdies against a lone bogey.
Aditi trails clubhouse leader Karolin Lampert (67), while Swiss player Caroline Rominger was six-under with three more holes to go.
The other Indian in the field, Neha Tripathi is struggling at five-over through 15 holes at Amelkis course.
Playing at the Samanah Country Club, Bengaluru girl, Aditi, birdied the fifth, sixth, 11th, 13th and 15th and dropped a shot on 14th.
Playing as an amateur, Aditi hopes to turn professional if she makes the Tour card, which will be available to the Top 30 finishers.
Aditi, currently ranked as No. 13 in World Amateur Rankings, became the youngest winner of a WGAI professional tournament in India in 2011 at 13 years 5 months.
She has played seven Ladies European Tour events as an amateur and finished as the low amateur three times in the Hero Women's Indian Open in 2012, 2014 and 2015 at T8th, T14th and T13th respectively.
She was also the first Indian amateur to play in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters last year where she finished 38th.
Currently ranked 13th on the World Golf Amateur Ranking, Aditi said, "I've played a lot of LET events before but this is my first Q School so I'm looking forward to it. I'm just going to enjoy it and play my game, that's all I can do. My objective is to try and play like at any other golf tournament and give myself a chance of finishing at the top."
