New Delhi: National Integration Council meeting should be held for a two-day duration annually so that the states can discuss important issues in detail, JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav said on Saturday. "The NIC meeting is being convened after three years. It should be called every year and not for just one day but for two days so that we get a chance to discuss it in details," Yadav said after the NIC meeting here.
The JD(U) leader said nothing should be done to disturb the federal structure of the country.
"We have federal Constitution. Law and order responsibility is with the state government in the federal structure and it should remain there."
About the Communal Violence Bill, he said, "there should not be two laws for this. Only one law should be there to deal with it." Referring to JD(U)-BJP rule in Bihar, Yadav said "there was not a single case of communal violence in the last six years in the state."
He, however, said there are still the problems of communalism in the country though the problem is not like earlier.
