The conditions predictably were tough to score, and Lahiri despite being three-over was Tied-55th and Jeev was Tied-96th.

Lahiri had an early double on the par-4 second and then dropped yet another shot at sixth to go three-over. He birdied the par-4 11th but gave that gain away on the next hole, the par-5 16th hole.

Little known Andrew Landry, who at one stage was five-under for the round ended Thursday at three-under through 17 holes sitting on a 10-foot putt on the ninth, which was his 18th hole. He duly holed the birdie and finished at four-under and then went off for a good long rest.

Lee Westwood, still looking for his first Major after all these years ended the first round at three-under, while Scott Piercy was four-under through 14 holes.

Shane Lowry finished at two-under, while Dustin Johnson was two-under through 12 as was Sergio Garcia.
