New Delhi: Gurgaon will have a second Metro line in coming years as the Urban Development Ministry and the Haryana Government are set to sign an MoU for the creation of a metro line from Sikandarpur Metro station to a proposed station on the National Highway 8 in Delhi.
"We are signing an MoU with the Haryana Government to
start another Metro line from Gurgaon to Dwarka side," Urban
Development Minister Kamal Nath said today.
"Phase III of the Metro has started and this would be very important in providing important infrastructure to people. More and more people are getting used to Metro now," Nath said while speaking to reporters.
"Similarly, we are looking at expediting as much as we can Phase IV," Nath further said.
Officials said that the MoU would be signed by the representatives of the Urban Development ministry and the Haryana Government on Thursday evening at Nirman Bhawan here.
Apart from Urban Development minister Kamal Nath, the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is also expected to be present at the time of the signing of the MoU.
While giving these details Kamal Nath said that as Metro changes the map of the city, he had also directed the DDA to do the same. Nath said he had directed to focus on constructing one lakh houses for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The DDA is constructing 30,000 such houses and another 30,000 are in the offing. Nath also said as there were several agencies in Delhi, implementation of projects was a difficult task and a mechanism was being created so that a single authority can approve development projects.
