New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday alleged that Congress workers attacked an election meeting in Manipur where BJP leader Najma Heptullah was present and demanded an inquiry into the incident. "Today between 10. 30 am to 12 noon a BJP election meeting being addressed by Najma Heptullah, leader Tapir Gao was attacked by Congress workers with lethal weapons and firearms," BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay said here.
Vijay said the incident had occurred in Thoubal, the constituency of Chief Minister Ibobi Singh. State party president Shanti Kumar had lodged an FIR in the incident, he said.
"We demand and inquiry in to the incident and also an apology by Chief Minister (Ibobi Singh) as this incident happened in his constituency," Vijay said.
