New Delhi: Welcoming the government’s decision to suspend the move to allow 51% FDI in multi-brand retail, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said that it is the victory of public opinion and democracy. Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday after Finance Minister read out a one line statement announcing the government’s intention to hold the FDI rollout for now, Swaraj said, “We welcome the government’s decision. It is not a defeat of the government but is only the victory of public opinion.” “Government bowed before public opinion. It is a big victory of democracy. I thank Pranab Mukherjeeji and the Prime Minister for the same,” she added.
