As a result, both the defending champion and championship leader are out of the race in just 30 seconds from the start.

In a sensational crash, which reminded their collision in the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix, the Merc duo came on each other following a tussle for the lead.

After a frenetic start, Rosberg passed pole sitter Hamilton at Turn One, but the Briton managed to gain speed and was looking for a pass inside Rosberg at Turn Four.

The German defended his position, forcing his team-mate onto the grass. Hamilton, after losing control, went into a spin clipping Rosberg, taking the pair of them off into a gravel trap.
