New Delhi: Champion pugilist M.C. Mary Kom has expressed her delight over the decision taken by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) approving Boxing India (BI) as a permanent member of the world body, terming this recognition as a 'big achievement' on Friday.

"It was our dream, we are very happy, It's a big achievement," Mary Kom told ANI here.


The five-time world champion and Olympic bronze medalist also extended her wishes to all the boxers on this occasion and stated that this decision will prove good for Indian sportsmen.


"It's good for Indian sportsmen, I extend my best wishes to all the boxers," she added.


On Friday the international boxing federation, granted Boxing India (BI) the permanent membership during the quadrennial Congress at Jeju in South Korea.


In December 2012 India was provisionally suspended reportedly for "possible manipulation" while conducting elections of the former Indian Amateur Boxing Federation. Subsequently, the AIBA had granted its provisional recognition to Boxing India after elections to form the new body was successfully conducted.
