Srinagar: Cold wave on Monday tightened its grip in Kashmir Valley with the minimum temperature in Srinagar plummeting to the season`s lowest.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.9 degrees Celsius, the coldest night in the city so far this winter, a MeT official said. Small stagnant water bodies and road potholes in the city were covered with a layer of ice.
Residents in many parts of the city were seen burning fire around frozen water supply lines. Leh district in Ladakh region also recorded the season`s lowest temperature with mercury dipping to minimum minus 18.2 deg C. Kargil registered a low of minus 14.4 deg C.
Elsewhere, Gulmarg recorded minimum minus 8.4 deg C, Pahalgam -7.4 deg C, Qazigund -5.6 deg C and Kupwara 4.5 deg C. PTI
