New Delhi: BJP President Nitin Gadkari Wednesday condoled the death of Goa Tourism Minister Matanhy Saldanha, describing him as an able leader who worked relentlessly for strengthening the organisation.
"Nitin Gadkari has expressed deep sorrow over the most unfortunate and untimely demise of senior party functionary and an efficient Minister for Tourism in the newly-formed Goa cabinet, Matanhy Saldanha," the BJP said in a statement.
In Saldanha`s death, the party has lost an able leader, who worked relentlessly for strengthening the organisation in Goa for several years, Gadkari said.
"He was known for his concerns on environmental issues and was known for his passion for balancing development with ecology. He had a strong popular base in all the communities of Goa. His untimely demise is an irreparable loss to the party," Gadkari said.
Saldanha died in a hospital in Panaji after suffering a heart attack.
