Lucknow: After ridiculing Mayawati for her obsession of parks and memorials, the Samajwadi Party government itself has now embarked on a similar mission in Uttar Pradesh.
State Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the proposed Janeshwar Mishra Park at Gomti Nagar in Lucknow. The occasion was Mishra’s birth anniversary.
As per the plan, the park will be spread over an area of more than 300 acres – its size will be bigger than any park commissioned by Mayawati during her tenure as CM. Mayawati`s Ambedkar Park in Lucknow covers an area of 98 acres; the Kanshi Ram Memorial and the Eco Park together are spread over an area of 228 acres; while the Noida memorial is spread out in 88 acres.
The Janeshwar Mishra Park will be four times the size of Mayawati`s Ambedkar memorial. It will come up at the same site where the Mayawati government had envisioned the Amebedkar Green Garden. The park will have plantation, public utility services, cycle and walking track and water bodies.
The park is a dream project of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The state government has so far not revealed how much the park will cost, but has announced it will fund the project.
