New Delhi: Chelsea football club player John Obi Mikel, who will be captaining the Nigerian contingent at the Rio Olympics, has donated USD 30,000 towards the welfare of his team which was low on funds.

As reported by africanfootball.com, coach Samson Siasia had fired a passionate plea for the authorities concerned to come to the rescue of the team financially, since the team was struggling to prepare for such a major event.
