Before Sindhu, Sakshi Malik had opened the account for India in the Medals Tally with a bronze medal in wrestling. On the same day, Sindhu too entered into the finals of Badminton championship by defeating her Japanese rival in the crucial semi-final match with 21-19 and 21-10 score, securing her place in the finals and also assuring a medal for the country.
She had created history by becoming the first Indian shuttler to have entered into the finals of Olympics. She now faces the world No. 1 shuttler Carolina Marin for the gold medal. Let us hope that she would maintain the same spirit and return to India with a gold medal.
After winning the semi-finals, Sindhu had atleast confirmed a silver medal for India. Indian sports lovers are now cheering her up by saying S for Sakshi, S for Sindhu and S for success.
Sindhu had yesterday assured that she will try her level best to clinch a Gold medal for India when she faces Marin in the finals.
Meanwhile, special prayers are being held at Goddess Simhavahini at Lal Darwaja in Hyderabad for the success of PV Sindhu at Rio Olympics and for achieving the Gold Medal for India.
Several sports lovers from across the country too held special 'puja', prayers for PV Sindhu's success.
In UP's Bijnor, special Friday prayers were offered at a local mosque for PV Sindhu.
PV Ramana, Father of PV Sindhu, also offered prayers at Ratnalamma Temple ahead of her final clash at Rio.
Special "puja" was also held for PV Sindhu ahead of her gold medal match against Carolina Marin in Mumbai.
Sindhu’s mother Vijaya too expressed the confidence that she would win the finals as she was in good form with the coaching of Gopichand. She turned an expert in the 10-year long coaching of Gopichand. She reminded that Gopichand’s role is the key in the success of Sindhu.
