Talk fast with Maoists: Mamata to interlocutors
WB CM asked interlocutors to act in view of continuing violence in tribal Junglemahal area despite halt in joint force ops against Maoists.
Kolkata: In a stern message to the
government-appointed team of interlocutors, West Bengal Chief
Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday asked it to act in view of
continuing violence in tribal `junglemahal` area despite halt
in joint force operations against Maoists.
Secretariat sources said she expressed her anguish and asked the interlocutors, led by Sujato Bhadra, why killings were taking place in `junglemahal` even after cessation of operations by the combined forces. "The government will not succumb to any terror tactics," she told the interlocutors and asked what they were doing after meeting the Maoists in that area.
"Talk to them (the Maoists) fast and inform the government what they want... Otherwise the government will not tolerate," she said. Earlier in the day, Bhadra met Banerjee and told newsmen after it that the dialogue process with the Maoists in `junglemahal` would continue though Banerjee had four days ago given a seven-day deadline to the Maoists to lay down arms.
